"When it comes to the enormous challenge of our time -- to systematically and relentlessly pursue more economic opportunity in our lands -- we don't have a person to waste, and we certainly don't have a gender to waste."
Hilary Clinton from Women and the Economy Summit in San Francisco, which was featured in  "A position the U.S. won't have to apologize for" in Oregon Live published on December 31, 2011.

Vampire Weekend, "I stand corrected"

I have been trying to write a paper for the past three days... I forgot how hard it was/is to concentrate.  I just need to get over the hump of writing my first essay, then I pray it will get a little easier... please...

It also doesn't help to have Ryan Gosling appear on my pandora screen. As you can see, he and half or George Clooney's face are very easy on the eyes. Easier than a blank word document!  So, I found myself staring at this ad...rather than my paper. Today will be better paper writing day...as it is due tomorrow...so it has to be...

Christmas discovery

This Christmas, I found a book of my grade school poetry about Christmas. It was most likely a school project that turned into a lovely gift for my mother or father since I never received allowance. Sorry, mom! You deserved better.  I was poor and not a writer. But, this gift is pure comedic gold.  It is obvious that I am not a writer and that my grammar sucks/ed. Both true today, but my penmanship has improved! My personality is written all over this book of Christmas poetry. Hilarious stuff.

I loved rereading some of this poetry, like Green and the other subject poetry that also made no sense, but provides good advice like "do not eat too much candy or else you will end up green."  This is not poetry, but a book of advice (and advice of how not to write poetry).   Luckly for you, dear reader, I decided to also share this other poetic gem to the left, which possessed my favorite line: " 'Now be careful with your money' said Mom" Haha, again this is not poetry but my mom's advice that she still shares with me to this day. Haha.  Nice try, childhood self.

This wrapping paper covered book is hilarious and I hope that you did not receive "gift[s that] aren't so exciting." Happy holidays, everyone!
