Movie time:

There is nothing good on Tv and the movie blockbusters don't look that good. I did enjoy Star Trek, mostly because Chris Pine is so good looking. But, I did see this preview for the new movie, 500 days of Summer. I think that I will love this movie.



I also believe that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is turning into the new Heath Ledger. He is attractive and a good actor, who been choosing interesting movie roles, similar to Leger. I miss Health. I doubt Gordon-Levitt is a signer though. Crazy to think that both were in 10 Things I hate about you, which I love. Good stuff! I can't wait to see this new movie. I need something smart, artistic, and good w/ a kick-@ss soundtrack!

Funny politics

Who said that? Sotomayor??? No. It was Supreme Court Justice Alito. Gotta love Conservative Hypocrisy!

Why was it good when Alito says his Italian background would make him a good Judge? But, Sotomayor almost made the same point and she is viewed as a racist. Xenophobia?

Sotomayor's speech was also taken out of context. If you see what she actually said , you will see that it was manipulated and spun to look like a bigger deal than it actually is. But, Alito blatantly says it. Plus in our heterogeneous society, we should have representatives that look like our population. Sadly for some, not me, that is not white.

"I would hope that a wise [not all] Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."

A justice should be weighed on their actions and legal rulings and not speeches (especially, taken out of context). Check out the Huffington Post's "Sonia Sotomayor: 10 Things you Should Know." It will be a very exciting summer in D.C.

Facinating

When I was in high school, I wanted to become a historian b/c I thought history was so cool and interesting. It's still cool and the majority of the books that I read are history books or biographies. Today's Washington Post article, "Fresh Look at Martha Washington: Less First Frump, More Foxy Lady" is fascinating. I love when 250 year old secrets become revealed. It makes me miss school and learning. Recently another friend revealed to me the theory that Lincoln might have been gay. I wonder what other 200 year old secrets will be revealed...

I still can't believe that I haven't visited Mount Vernon. I think this new article forces me to go and visit so that I can see those purple wedding shoes. Martha had good taste in shoes for the 18th century. I need to be venture out to VA to go on historic sightseeing trips. I miss learning.

Learning = cool

I thought this article, 5 feisty presidential daughters, was really cool. The next time I am in the Harding Senate building, I am looking for that couch that President Harding's illegitimate daughter was conceived on!
