planning...

My take on one of the seriously adorable gift tags, which could
totally be an ornament for a Christmas tree. 

In the past couple of days, I have been planning my time off. Doesn't sound right, huh? I guess you can say that I am a planner. This year is the first time, that I have nothing planned for a month. So it seems right that I plan my vacation, right?!?! 

During finals, I was tagging and bookmarking a lot of DIY posts on my reader, so that during my break I could try and do some of those crafts.  Here are some of my favorites:

I have also been watching a number of documentaries too. Some were really good (AI WEIWEI: NEVER SORRY & First Position) and others were not my cup of tea (Mansome & What's the Matter with Kansas?). During the semester, my boyfriend would watch a number of good documentaries while I studied, which was really distracting. So now, I am catching up but it is hard to pick out good ones. I have been staying away from food related documentaries. Mainly so that I can keep eating what I eat without guilt. Haha. At least sitting around and watching documentaries are kinda educational. That's what I keep telling myself...

Seeing...

This movie,

                 Design & Thinking,

on Thursday.                            .

I am excited- it is something that I've wanted to learn more about as it relates to Social Enterprise and relates to my interests in design, art, creativity, politics, problem-solving, social causes, and thinking out of the box.  Also, the movie is being played at a very cool venue - a new hip and happening coffee shop - Truth Coffee and featuring pizza from a gourmet food truck called Limoncello. All the things I love & want in one evening! Wohoo! 


W/ that theme of movies - I saw this trailer over the weekend on africasacountry.com twitter feed. It is a trailer for a movie about punk music in Africa, featuring National Wake, a multi racial  South African punk rock band. I think it sounds so awesome and I would love to see it. This movie apparently covers how South African bands dealt with politics during apartheid. So interesting!

blond moment

Recently, I was visiting my parents in PA. One day, we got on the topic of the origins of word,  RSVP. Is it a word? I guess not, because it stands for a French phrase, "répondez, s'il vous plaît"? Yeah, I didn't know that. I don't think I have ever thought to think about the origins of the phrase/word. That alone should have made me feel stupid, but then I continue on and say, "isn't that Spanish, not French." Yes, I apparently cannot tell you the difference between French and Spanish. Pretty humiliating.  I need to give up speaking romance languages. I should actually give up speaking, in general. 

Now, I should leave you with a real blond quote from the movie, Clueless: 

Cher: So like, right now for example. The Haitians need to come to America. But some people are all, "What about the strain on our resources?" Well it's like when I had this garden party for my father's birthday, right? I put R.S.V.P. 'cause it was a sit-down dinner. But some people came that like did not R.S.V.P. I was like totally buggin'. I had to haul ass to the kitchen, redistribute the food, and squish in extra place settings. But by the end of the day it was, like, the more the merrier. And so if the government could just get to the kitchen, rearrange some things, we could certainly party with the Haitians. And in conclusion may I please remind you it does not say R.S.V.P. on the Statue of Liberty. Thank you very much.

Movie time:

There is nothing good on Tv and the movie blockbusters don't look that good. I did enjoy Star Trek, mostly because Chris Pine is so good looking. But, I did see this preview for the new movie, 500 days of Summer. I think that I will love this movie.



I also believe that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is turning into the new Heath Ledger. He is attractive and a good actor, who been choosing interesting movie roles, similar to Leger. I miss Health. I doubt Gordon-Levitt is a signer though. Crazy to think that both were in 10 Things I hate about you, which I love. Good stuff! I can't wait to see this new movie. I need something smart, artistic, and good w/ a kick-@ss soundtrack!
