This is the cutest story. I love when Michelle Obama talks to kids. Kids love her. I think it is b/c she talks to them intelligently and jokingly. Hilary didn't do this as much. Probably b/c she was attempting to attack the Health care system and f***ing it up some more. I remember watching this similar program when the Clinton's lived in the White House. Back then the discussion focused on Socks, the cat (RIP Socks). But, this time it focused on Bo, not cooking, and "Life as First Lady." I am so glad that the White House is opening up again. It felt like the dark ages for the past 8 years.

That sounds like my kind of answer. Michelle is totally my homegirl.

This link is stalkerish, but I love it. I can't believe that I didn't think of it! Granted, I don't have resources as New York Magazine's slide show of Michelle Obama's fashion, but I thought that I would share it with you, dear reader.

I am actually surprised that the blog- MrsO - didn't get this scoop first. But, then again it is run by an advertising company so maybe it is related to New York Magazine. Who knows?!

I love MB's style and would die for that Azzedine Alaia belt. Ahhhh, I love it! But, wayyyy to expensive for this poor workin' girl. If you got it, buy it. I only wished that MB wore color on Inauguration night, but she looked fabulous nonetheless. Love love love her and Love love love clothes. Nothing but Love!

My Sunshine

On this dreary wet day, I thought that I would write about my girl crush, Michelle Obama, because she makes my days sunny and bright. She is in London looking fabulous and inspiring all of the Europeans, esp. the Brits. Even the Queen was getting grabby and showing her love:



I understand why everyone is so mesmerized by Michelle and Barack. I sometimes think to myself "wow, I still can't believe it," but it is true. I have bruises from pinching myself.

I thought I would share the last clip below, because Michelle looks so touched and I really loved her advice to the young girls. I am so proud to have a first lady and woman to aspire to.



Random Side Note: I always think it is funny to see the kinds of gifts that people give to Heads of State, like Hilary giving her Russian counterpart a mistranslated button to "restart their relationship." I could see the queen getting jiggy to "Seasons of Love"! ;) I know, I do.

But, how do I get the job of the person who thinks of these gifts and purchases them? I think I could be good at picking out gifts. Also, I wouldn't cause gaffes like the State Dept's gift giver. My references would include my parents and family members, who always seem to enjoy my Christmas gifts.

Obama Fever

I have obama fever literally. Well not fever, but obama cold-like symptoms. It was worth it. Now, when are they going to remove the porter potties from this city? I may feel like sh*t, but I don't want to see nor smell it.

Freaky

Gmail's capability to read your email and figure out our likes/dislikes is a bit freaky. Lately, it has advertising this message to me:

Do they know about my love for JCrew clothing and their constant advertising? Or did they see my conversations with my family/friends about my love for Michelle? Or both? Freaky...

Yes, I want to buy Michelle's look. But, I just need the money! Or Michelle's new ring...

People that I admire:

Michelle Obama

Yesterday was day 1 of the Democratic National Convention and America's reintroduction to Michelle (yes, I like to think we are on a first name basis). She gave a great speech and really spoke from the heart. I loved the video that was played before her speech that was narrated by her mother. I could feel my eyes welling up with tears before and during the speech. I was not alone (I'm talking about you, Joe Bidden). She was smart, eloquent, warm, and confident. Personally, I don't like the the criticism being placed on Michelle Obama and the other presidential candidates wives. I have always been a person who tries not to judge other people's personal lives. Your work ethic and character is more important to me. Does a spouse affect a husbands character? Maybe, but Michelle is awesome and makes me like Barack Obama more.

Strong women often get unfairly criticized for being outspoken, but I say to those people: suck it. I don't think Michelle has an "elitist" presence. She is more like us, ordinary folk, than the other first lady candidate. Cindy Hensley McCain grew up into affluent circumstances, while Michelle had to work hard for the "American dream." Plus Cindy McCain steals cooking recipes (I don't forget stupid stories like this). I remember people criticizing Gore for being elitist and preferring Bush to Gore because "you could get a beer with W." Well look at what good that did ya, America.

In a world where we criticize women on the political stage for being "too masculine" or "too weak or feminine," I want to thank you, Michelle for being a good role model for young women.
