WTF...

Bill Cunningham looks like he would be a nice old man. Apparently, he gets paid by NYTimes to write about things he sees on the street and is a famous photographer.  I wish I got paid to do that, b/c I would share much more interesting stuff from my walks to Dupont from U Street every Sunday morning, especially after a crazy drinking holiday like St. Patty's day.

Recently, Bill made an observation for the fashion side of the site about women's footwear. Apparently, women like to wear comfortable ballet flats and often they are black! Crazy! He also praised "American women" for choosing ballet flats as their fashion choice for shoes and that designers can't control our choices. Who are you Bill? Any rational woman would have told you this. Yes, we wear flats or sneakers and change into heel shoes when we go to work. We don't want blisters... Bill, do you choose to wear comfortable shoes when you go to work a.k.a walk around the streets of NYC taking pictures?

It appears the Bill has not been talking to any women nor looking at anyone's feet for the past two years. I watched this NYTimes report with much amusement because it was obvious that this person was not a woman. All women already know this. Sorry, Bill, you are two years late.

I believe I can fly...

I am loving this Mika Butterfly Top from Kind Boutique. I love their website and blog. They have so many cool and unique clothes. This fall, I purchased my favorite top and cool colorful vintage belt.  I am loving this top and wishing it was my my birthday, so that I could get it.  I love the flutter on one side and how the antennas are the strap for the other.

Alas, I will wait for this one to become cheaper and hope for a belated half-birthday present!

I'm okay with being unimpressive. I sleep better.

It's Friday- thank goodness! It has been a long week and I just want to say "forget you," but using the real song lyrics, to this week. To help me get through this day, I decided to wear my favorite shirt. It is a cowl neck/turtle neck like thing. Her name is Annie and I purchased it from Kind Boutique, which I found in one of my blogs.  I love it, the boutique, and like to hide in it, like a turtle.  Quite tempted to get another one because I love it so much.

To complete this week, I ate some yummy thai food, read a pretty postcard, and watched Garden State (one of my fav. movies of all time and the title of this post was one of my fav. lines from the movie), which was a nice ending to a pretty blah week.  Have a good weekend!

I have an unhealthy addiction...

...to STRIPES! I have no reason to do any online shopping, but I was reading a Slate article and the ad on the side asked if I wanted to see what was new at Nordstroms. I should have scrolled down farther to not see the ad, but I clicked on it. Now,  I want more stripe shirts! Nordstroms must know my addiction, hence the eight consecutive stripe shirts on the page.

One very cute story from the Boxing Day holiday is my mom told me that she wanted to have a Sara-like shirt, which meant a stripe shirt. It turned out that she didn't like it on her, but it was a very sweet story. Stripes = me.

tid bit of gossip

I recently cut my hair short again (well, my hair dresser did) and thought to myself, I kinda have Carey Mulligan's haircut...or Justin Beiber. So, I was quite amused this morning to read this tid bit of gossip (below) from jezebel. I hope that she is not planning to take Chinese herbal supplements b/c who knows what else will grow or she could develop an odor, like that episode of Seinfeld with George using that Chinese hair growing spray...

I understand Carey's pain. After the 2nd grade, I too could not grow my hair longer than my shoulders. Believe me, I tried.  Good luck, girl! I will hold down the short hair front for the both of us. 

 

Carey Mulligan is reportedly taking a pill in order to regrow her hair, because in the magical land of the mind of whoever wrote this article, cutting your hair makes it grow more slowly. If only Carey had magic beans! They would solve all of our problems! [Daily Mail]

It is crazy to think that this time last year, the weather was "Partly sunny and increasingly breezy. 68-73 degrees." I am going to be excited to see and feel that weather again. I was ecstatic today to just see the sun! Yesterday's second blizzard (or was that a snowstorm?) looked like a shaken up snow globe. It would have been beautiful if I had not been cooped up all day inside for the past six days.

So what have I been up to? Obviously not blogging! Haha! As you can see, I have not done this in awhile... But, I have been keeping myself busy by finishing a book (Sarah Vowell's Assassination Vacation) and working from home.  Also, "going" online window shopping and reading starred items in my google reader.

This link is stalkerish, but I love it. I can't believe that I didn't think of it! Granted, I don't have resources as New York Magazine's slide show of Michelle Obama's fashion, but I thought that I would share it with you, dear reader.

I am actually surprised that the blog- MrsO - didn't get this scoop first. But, then again it is run by an advertising company so maybe it is related to New York Magazine. Who knows?!

I love MB's style and would die for that Azzedine Alaia belt. Ahhhh, I love it! But, wayyyy to expensive for this poor workin' girl. If you got it, buy it. I only wished that MB wore color on Inauguration night, but she looked fabulous nonetheless. Love love love her and Love love love clothes. Nothing but Love!

Realization

I have not purchased clothing in a month, which is crazy. If you don't count the gift-giving holidays, than it has been longer. I'm an addict and I am slightly amazed with my restraint, especially with the constant flow of FINAL SALE or 30% (or more) emails that I have been receiving. I have actually not been buying a lot of clothes this year. Granted, I have been a sucker for shoes though. Recession, maybe? No idea, but I am having a shopping craving that may need to be fixed this weekend. GG, I know that you understand.

I thought I would list the things that I want:

• Leather Motorcycle Jacket - I hear Zara has a cute one. I know that I am a couple months behind, as a couple of my friends purchased leather jackets in November and I have been yearning for leatha jacket for months.
  
• Poncho! I've been wanting to have one of these for at least 1 yr. I just like the word poncho. My mom has this great poncho for her younger days. I wish that it wasn't yellow b/c it washes me out. But, this is my dream poncho. Not for that much money.
• Skinny Jeans for my cute brown frye boots. I don't think I could tuck my jeans into my current pair of jeans. God, I never thought I would say that.
  
• Spring Clothing- Thanks a lot J.Crew for your new arrivals.

Maybe Microsoft is reading my blog, but those commercials with Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates got pulled. I love you guys, but separately. Sidenote: I can't believe Seinfeld got 10 million to do these commercials. Spend the money on charity b/c neither of you need it.

I doubt Microsoft reads my blog because I don't think my boyfriend does.

I enjoyed last night's project runway (granted this season has been a bore). I must say I am slowly becoming a fan of Jerrell. I used to dislike him but his designs have become (slowly) sophisticated and I loved last night's outfit. "She's awkward and androgenous...like me!" His bitchy comments have now become endearing. Now if only they could have kicked out Joe AND Suede. Oh well...

• My friend Amanda pointed out to me potential model drama when she was viewing the Bryant Park Collection. She has a better eye than me - but click on the link to see the proposed theories of why Karalyn is not with Leanne. Warning: It might ruin things for you, if you like to be surprised. But, I think there will be a walk-off soon...I predict the show will be between Leanne aka leanima, Korto (the winner), and Jerrell, who likes to wear silly hats.

Apparently, Tea 'healthier' drink than water. It is a good think I drink so much tea instead of coffee, but not today (I need a high-dose of caffeine).

Have you seen this man? Haha! I love J.Crew, but this man must LOVE J.Crew. Searsucker red/pink jacket and periwinkle pants with matching red/pink socks! FABULOUS! I was amused the entire ride home.

Oddities

This Spring, I noticed something strange on the CNN website.

Have you ever noticed that on the CNN website, you can purchase a T-shirt with the titles of news stories. This would not be so strange if the titles were not so odd. Like "Elephant warms to baby she stomped."

1. Why would I want to watch a this video? I don't like watching Elephants, especially smushed ones.
2. What a strange title to put on a shirt? Other titles (this month) include "Cheerleader skirts too short for school" and "Agents find 200 pot plants in mall." And how come I can't purchase the title that says "Boy, 9, told he's too good to be pitcher"? It is on the CNN website.
3. Do I really want a t-shirt that says this title and that "I just found saw it on CNN.com" with the date and time? Plus $15 dollars and shipping? I could make that shirt for you.
   

What a strange marketing ploy. And of course, the most popular shirt sold by CNN is "Asian women seek white, groveling men." Le Sigh!
