July Obsessions

TV:
Tv in the summer is notoriously bad, but I have two series that I love that only show in the summer (besides my bravo tv shows) and they are:

Rookie Blue- It's the Grey's Anatomy of cop shows. Fun girly drama with awesome love triangle. I love Sam Swarek! Its my new Thursday must see tv show.

Drop Dead Diva: Season three- woop woop! I l remember that I thought the premise of this show was stupid, but I am now in love with it. It is so heartwarming, like Ugly Betty, but without all the fashion.

Clothes:
Want, want, want. Ugh.  Everything they make is so cute and comfortable, but $$$. I must stay away...

Music:
Robyn - Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall (Coldplay Cover) Live At Radio 1 Live Lounge

My puppy:

OMG, she is wearing a headband and she looks like Jane Fonda. Loves it!

i am so strange

Tonight at 9 am, I came home and realized that I had nothing easy and simple to make and eat, so I made vegetable soup. One-hour later, soup is ready!

Lately, I have been on a strange cooking kick, esp. making soups! Good thing it is Fall tomorrow...

Goodbye Summer

Sad to see summer go, but won't mind the cooler weather. Hello pasty white legs! Hello Fall!

tired

Sometimes when I tell people about my life, daily interactions, and the things that I have think about/deal with, it sounds very absurd or crazy. Not like "oh my god, there is a monkey in my house and it is throwing feces at me" crazy - that would be- but, more of a compiling of odd things that turn out becoming outrageous. I often feel like issues/problems should not be issues or something that I should be concerned about, but it feels like it has been put upon me to worry about/deal and handle.

This is probably why my new favorite curse word is no longer the f bomb, but...

my recent obsessions

Robyn - Body Talk pt. 1 & pt. 2

Visible Friend Necklace - I like to call this friend, robo girl :)
Over 200 dollars is excessive, esp. if there are no diamonds, pearls or jewels involved, but I am very amused by this wacky necklace.

Expensive scarves, like the Two-Tone Eternity Scarf
I should really not be thinking of lambswool on 80 degree days!

Diamond Tufted Headboard - I've been obsessed with this headboard since last winter. I think that I just need to suck it up and purchase it already, but boy that would hurt my bank account. I love it thought! Speaking of beds, time to sleep! Zzz!

Conundrum

So, I have this "friend" who I ride the bus with (we have the same bus stop) and often run into in the hallway of my office building. The awkward thing is that we have introduced ourselves already, but I  can't remember her name! She is a really pretty blond hipster girl, but sometimes I can't distinguish her from others (I'm awful). Also, we only say hello to each other, then put on our ipods on and ignore each other, which is so awkward because we then have to go to the same office and floor and then say goodbye to each other.  It's odd, dontcha think? I need to figure out her name and then take this relationship to the next level (conversation perhaps?) because it is awkwarddddddd. But then again, I am prone to awkwardness. So, we shall see, we shall see.

Happy Happy Day!

I have never had the gift for words, especially for poetry. But, for the Birthday of my dog, Buxtehude, I have written a poem.

Beautiful
unbelievable
xenophobic (to other dogs)
inquisitive
energetic

Simple, I know. This is the kind of poetry that I did in the 1st grade but, it is the only poetry that I can write. I suck at writing and for selecting adjectives that start with x. Sadly, my dog is xenophobic to other dogs. Buxie only likes humans b/c she is so spoiled. But, luckily for me, I am a human and I love her.

Happy First Birthday Buxie! I can't wait for more exciting years with my crazy girl.

piggly wiggly

Not to create a culture of fear, but look at this cool Swine Flu map by Google. I usually never look at the flu maps during regular Flu season, but this is pretty amusing. I also just read that Japan got its first case today. So, put a marker on that map! I guess it is good that they caught this person at the Airport. But, I just hope that my mother gets out of Japan before more paranoia hits.

I also wanted to share these cool fashionable face masks. I like to call it Flu Fashion! Maybe I should color my surgical mask?? Personally, I think that we should take advantage of this paranoia by reviving the economy with drug, tissue, sanitary hand wipes, and face mask purchases.

Escaping the summer heat in April

Spotted: Cutest and coolest little girl reading a book in her shades on the Metro. I often wish that I had a stroller so that I could chillax, like this little cutey.

I imagine that this little girl went to Krispy Kremes at Dupont (that's where she exited) Circle for a mini donut. Maybe, she will go shopping at Georgetown next. Lucky Duck.

Exposé

This is a very important musical exposé. No, not seriously. But, I thought that I would share with you, dear reader, that I prefer Katy Perry's version of "I do not hook up" to Kelly Clarkson. See:

I told you that this is not serious.at.all. But, this is something that I have been thinking about, musically. I think Kelly is a (way) better singer, but Katy's voice is gritter, which sounds better with this specific song. Katy's one of the original songwriters of this song and should receive props for writing addictive and catchy songs. Oh well...It doesn't matter really though, Katy and Kelly are good friends and even went to Barbados with Rihanna. I wonder if they sing together when they hang out. Not sure, but the visual proof that they hang out is here.

tweet tweet

This is longer than 160 characters so I will share a tweet worthy tweet here.

My intern just informed that she can "Finally send faxes by [her]self!" Good job. It just took you three months. Her small personal victory can be further detracted by the fact that I showed her how to print a document on letterhead 10 minutes earlier. I hope that the next intern learns all of this stuff before the two weeks before they have leave. This girl rivals Stephanie Pratt with her inability to do simple administrative work. I should be more like my bitchy hero, Kelly Cutrone, and berate her. Oh well...

Missing

My creativity has been missing for the past 3 years. It is really tragic that I have lost this desire to be creative. Not to toot my own horn, but I have been creative all of my life until I started working. I love being creative and I need to change that because it was a nice release of my energy. Also, it made me happy!

Saw this project online today and I kind of want to make, but larger. I am a sucker for cork board and wine so this an ideal project.

Good Advice

If you can't read this "tip" from a NYC Cab, it says "Don't bite your own penis...Not again." Yeah, when I read this I went "errrrr?!???" I would think that this "tip" is a given, but thanks yellow cab!

My favorite excuse

The only good thing about this recession is that I can blame things on it. It has become my person scapegoat. If I don't want to do something or someone asks me to explain my actions to anything, I just say "Its the Recession, man." It explains itself.

April Fools!

1I am so glad that today is the 1st of April, but not for April Fools day. I have no joke or amusing story about today (nor any day), but today is the due date for one of my big responsibility at work! I am just so glad that this portion of my job is over (for this year). Hallelujah! I feel like celebrating!

I thought that I would share this video by MGMT. It is a bit scary, like the first minute of Lady Gaga's Poker Face video (with the scary mask), but I love their sound. Makes me want to dance...my celebration dance! S..A...F...E...T...Y...Dance!

Spotted:

I don't know where and why I see strange people, but, I do. I see them everywhere and I swear that I don't look for them.

Look at this freak. I understand that fashion is pain, but keep those shoes on. Plus, you are sitting down. It is not like this person is standing up...

Seriously, why do people take off their shoes in public places like on public transportation. Do you know how dirty metro carpets are? Plus I thought that Metro was trying to get rid of the carpet on Metro because it is often gets moldy and gross!

I am so grossed out right now. The only thing worse was this picture that I took last year of this girl on the street. Stockings are not shoes. Cute bag though. I think it is a Corinne Foley bag.

eh

It's Friday! I seriously have nothing to write about but, I thought I should post something. I hope that you watched this episode of the Daily Show between Jon Stewart and CNBC’s Jim Cramer. Jon Stewarts coverage of CNBC has been quite damning, especially in Jim Cramer's lack of warning of the financial crisis. This episode called the "Wall Street Brawl" does not even seem like a brawl, but a verbal beating of the usually loudmouthed Cramer, who just laid there while Stewart berated and tore him a new @sshole.

This kind of conversation really pulls into question the role of the media and whether people in the media are truly asking the right questions and "looking out" for the public. Where were the difficult questions prior to the war in Iraq? No one was asking them. What is the purpose of the media, if it is not acting like a watchdog and calling everything into question?

Spotted:

NOW that's a hat! What an amazing sight?!?! I was just giddy look at this monstrosity because it looks like a furry Muppet on someone's head. That hat is eating her head! haha! Wow.

Just another adventure in people watching...

I <3 Music Videos, esp. concert videos

There is a serious lack of good music coming out this early-spring/summer. I know that U2 and Green Day have a CD coming out this spring, but where is everyone else? Plus, I don't love the new U2 stuff anyways... I am really upset because I am dying for some good music. I also really want to go to a concert, but there is also nothing. Well, there are a couple of things but it is either sold out (b/c I am too slow) or in bad venues. Also, I am going to CA when Bloc Party comes to D.C. So, le sigh!

I will probably have to start finding new music to like... Oh well!

I thought I would share this song by Santogold that I LOVE. It never gets old.
